Tributes to Heesob Nam (1966-2021), legendary South Korean IP activist
Very said to hear that @heesob has died of cancer, on May 10. He was a major figure in the global access to medicines movement, beginning with his work on access to cancer drugs two decades ago.

Saddened to hear this news. My first interaction with @heesob was back in 2005 when he was fighting to get generic Glivec in S.Korea. Big loss, but he’ll not be forgotten.

I remember Heesob Nam as a co-speaker at the IFLA annual conference, Seoul, Aug 2006 (his topic – copyright issues in the then proposed Korea-US FTA). Sorry to hear of his passing well before time.

RIP, he sounds like a wonderful person and right there at a historical time when S Korea started its semiconductor industry, and chose his political conscience over patent monopolies https://t.co/aY9Fd69Tt5
